The Role

At Somniacs, a Zurich-based VR startup, I worked in a small core team with responsibility for sales, communication, and early business development. The role was broad and hands-on, spanning customer relationships, partner coordination, and external representation of the company.

I supported international expansion efforts, including travel to Brazil for export-related activities and to Portugal for a major industry trade show. I also built and documented a CRM setup to bring structure to sales activities and distributor communication.

What I learned

Although my time at Somniacs was short due to financial challenges faced by the company, the role offered a fast and unfiltered education in early-stage startup life. Things moved quickly, sometimes impressively so, sometimes in reverse, and stability was never guaranteed.

Working closely with the founders meant wearing multiple hats by default and being comfortable picking up whatever was needed next. It also exposed me to the discipline of documenting processes early, even while everything was still in motion, a pragmatic instinct that stood out.

Above all, it made visible the passion, personal investment, and resilience required to build something from scratch, and how fragile progress can be when any one of those elements slips.
